Over the last few weeks, I have been making a documentary for BBC Radio 2 (to be broadcast on 20 January 2015) called: Somerset Blues, the Story of Acker Bilk. It’s been great to talk to Acker’s friends and colleagues past and present, as well as digging up archive recordings of the man himself and the late Michael Winner, who asked Acker to play on the soundtrack of his movie West 11. This weekend we’ve been finishing off the show which is presented by my good friend, all round jazz buff and great radio voice Clarke Peters.
